PREMIUM PRESENTATION: HOW CRITICAL MINERALS IMPACT SECURITY-RELATED ISSUES TODAY?

Critical minerals are fundamental to developing emerging technologies and industries such as clean energy, semiconductors, and defence. However, their supply chains are highly concentrated, particularly around China, which has used its near-monopoly to exert strategic and economic influence. In response, ASPI established the Darwin Dialogue and exclusive 1.5-track dialogue to examine the urgent need for a diversified supply chain and strategic policy measures to enhance global resilience against price volatility and geopolitical risks. In this session, Dr Coyne will discuss the impact of security-related issues on critical minerals and recommendations for fostering competitive and secure supply chains, emphasizing the necessity for mini-lateral coordinated government and private sector efforts to address these critical vulnerabilities.
